Speaker 1:

Brian Katula, Technical PM and Chris Denning, Director of Business Resilience from Global Resilience Federation

Abstract: The Operational Resilience Framework and It’s Implementations – A Walk through the Operational Resilience Framework and look at examples of how it can be implemented

Brian Katula:

Brian Katula has been immersed in Operational Resilience since the beginning of his professional career. From the research of existing best practices and regulations, to co-authoring the GRF Operational Resilience Framework alongside numerous industry experts, he has focused his work on business continuity, supporting the development of multiple implementation and tabletop exercises. He is versed in facilitating discussion between senior executives from multiple sectors on complex and sensitive issues that are common in Operational Resilience. Katula has an undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering from University of Maryland and is currently working to obtain his MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business.

Chris Denning:

As the Chief Security Officer (CSO) at the Global Resilience Federation (GRF), Mr. Denning oversees day-to-day security operations, oversees the GRF’s multi-sector Business Resilience Council and its information sharing, exercises, operational resilience, and third-party risk programs. Prior to joining GRF in 2017, Mr. Denning served in the US Army as an Apache Helicopter Pilot and as a Military Intelligence Officer. While in the military Chris was an Officer Charge at the Pentagon’s Army Watch and National Guard Bureau’s Joint Operation Center where he helped plan for, mitigate, and coordinate response to major events and missions around the world and throughout the United States. As a Commander and Contracting Officer’s Representative in the military, Chris was responsible for developing, securing, and maintaining partnerships and supply chains that were essential to US missions around the globe. Chris also served as a law enforcement officer where he specialized in investigating organized crime, street crimes and fraud. Chris is an expert in geopolitics, physical security, and supply chain security. Mr. Denning has authored dozens of articles and papers analyzing the impacts of geopolitical events on supply chains and has been an advocate for the geographical diversification of supply chains and for leveraging collective influence to establish communications during events which threaten supply chains. Most recently, Chris co-developed and facilitated an exercise with IBM Promontory to test supply chains and third-party risk amidst geopolitical conflict in Asia. Chris holds degrees in Political Science, Spanish, Military Science and Business from BYU, University of Utah, and Liberty University.

Peter Hedberg, Vice President, Underwriting from Corvus Insurance

Abstract:  Cyber Insurance – Ask Me Anything style presentation designed to engage the security community and to demystify the underwriting process, coverage, claims process, etc.

Peter Hedberg:

Peter Hedberg is currently Vice President of Cyber Underwriting at Corvus Insurance, and specializes in Cyber and Tech E&O. Entrusted with leading a world-class underwriting organization, Peter leverages predictive data-driven insights to provide superior risk selection, accelerated decision-making and IT security recommendations. With over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, Hedberg provides a well-rounded underwriting perspective on the most pressing risk management challenges and claims trends. Hedberg has led the charge in expanding Corvus’s cyber and technology operations across the U.S. since 2019. Prior to his role at Corvus, Hedberg held leadership roles at organizations like Hays Companies of Minnesota (now Brown & Brown) and Hiscox and NAS Insurance Services (now Tokio Marine HCC) in New York City. Peter is a Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU), and is currently based in Washington, DC.
