In the mid-80s he started a successful solo career but also played for Mick Jagger in 1988 and Deep Purple in 1993, as well as supergroups G3 and Chickenfoot. He is a 15-time Grammy Award nominee and has sold over ten million albums, making him the bestselling instrumental rock guitarist of all time. Released in 1986, Not of this Earth is Satriani's fully instrumental debut album.
