The Nike Air Force 1 Low "Chicago" is a colorway of the retro basketball shoe from the “Chicago” pack that is inspired by the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Following the massive fire that spread throughout the Windy City, residents worked together to repair the city’s architecture by replacing burned wooden structures with steel, concrete, and glass, and the “Chicago” pack tributes those efforts. The Air Force 1 Low “Chicago” features a color scheme inspired by Chicago’s architecture from its pre-fire days. The leather upper is designed in a combination of hues, beginning with Summit White leather on the base and Coconut Milk-colored suede on the toe, forefoot, and eyelets. A Gym Red Swoosh appears on the lateral side of the shoe while a cow-inspired Swoosh is seen on the medial side, an homage to the folklore about Mrs. O’Leary’s cow accidentally knocking over a lantern to start the fire. The distressed leather and vintage-style midsole lend a time-worn aesthetic to the shoe. Release date: October 21, 2023
