Safety First:​ Turn the gas control knob to "OFF" and close the main gas shut-off valve.2. Access Panel:​ Remove the outer access panel and insulation to expose the gas control valve.3. Disconnect Wiring:​ Unplug the thermopile, thermostat, and igniter connectors from the gas valve. Take a photo for reference.4. Remove Burner:​ Unthread the nuts securing the manifold door. Carefully slide the burner assembly out of the combustion chamber.5. Swap Sensor:​ Locate the old thermocouple/thermopile nut, unscrew it, and remove the sensor tip. Install the new sensor, ensuring it sits firmly next to the pilot tube. Do not overtighten.6. Reassemble:​ Slide the burner assembly back in, reattach the manifold door, and reconnect all lead wires to their correct terminals.7. Leak Test & Ignition:​ Turn the gas supply on. Apply a soapy water solution to all fittings—if bubbles appear, tighten the connection. Once leak-free, follow your heater’s manual to ignite the pilot.
