Many attacks use custom-compiled malware that is able to evade detection. Criminal threat-actors also collaborate with each other in a series of criminal ecosystems, allowing them to specialize in particular areas and then combine efforts. This session will cover the evolution of ransomware, the most prolific trends and techniques used by ransomware operators as well as offer an assessment of how ransomware is likely to evolve in the near future. The session also will review how threat actors are targeting commercial organizations with ransomware, and what commercial organizations can do to potentially mitigate destructive ransomware attacks.\nAbout Roel:\nRoel Schouwenberg has been part of the security community since the late 90s. His career has spanned many facets, with his early work primarily focused on producing cyber threat research and analysis. From there on, Roel started producing and presenting tactical and strategic threat intelligence. He has shaped intelligence programs that focused on cyber, human and insider threat elements. Roel has given countless briefings to clients in both the commercial and non-commercial space. In his free time, he enjoys hiking and listening to music.\nSession 2: Presented by (ISC)2; Center for Cyber Safety and Education\nMaking the Cyber World a Safer Place for Everyone:\nPat Craven Director Center for Cyber Safety and Education\nThe Center for Cyber Safety and Education (Center), formerly (ISC)² Foundation, is a non-profit charitable trust committed to making the cyber world a safer place for everyone.
